What You'll Learn

Comprehensive Ear Training: Full Song Analysis

This final lesson brings together all ear training skills. You'll analyze complete songs, combining interval recognition, chord progression identification, rhythm transcription, melodic dictation, and timbre recognition.

Step 1: Key & Tempo

Identify the key (major/minor, tonic note) and tempo (BPM). Use a reference pitch and tap along to find the tempo.

Step 2: Chord Progression

Listen to the bass and identify root notes. Determine chord quality (major/minor) and assign Roman numerals.

Step 3: Melody & Rhythm

Transcribe the vocal melody or lead line. Use the multi-pass system: rhythm first, then pitches.

Step 4: Instrumentation

Identify all instruments and their roles. Note any processing (reverb, distortion, compression).
